Planning permission was secured in 2018 by owner, City and Country, to redevelop the 3.6 acre site for 202 residential units. The permitted scheme also included 480sqm of commercial and community space within the former main prison block, which is Grade 2* listed. Since then detailed consents have been obtained to enable the development to proceed and the owner has held discussions with prospective developers of the residential part of the scheme.

August Update - Owner of the prison, City and County, is still marketing the property for sale. There have been a couple of viewings so far this year, but the building is still up for sale.
